Liquid Passion: Casting Art Project 2025
A casting art residency, exhibition and public iron pour performance project to introduce invigorating fresh appeal to iron casting as a contemporary art form in Iwate,
a prefecture world-famous for its 400-year history of Nanbu ironware.
First held in 2023 "Liquid Passion - A Torrent of Passion in Search of Form" experimented with innovative and unconventional ways of casting iron artworks.
It was such a great success we are holding a second international event this autumn:
"Liquid Passion - Iron Man, Feast of Fire" invites Professor George Beasley and his partner Judy (who helped establish the project in 2023) from the USA, and Eden Jolly from Scotland, UK
to collaborate with Iwate based artists, supported by Nanbu Tekki master craftsmen, on more exciting experiments.
The project will also feature an even more powerful public iron casting performance, an exhibition of artworks completed during the project, and artists talks.
We would be delighted if you would be able to attend the public events listed below.
With all best wishes,
Hironori Katagiri
Executive Chairman, Liquid Passion Executive Committee
